New Yarn Discovery</h2>
<div>
It is that lucky finding of mine: <b><i><a href="https://www.missbabs.com/"><span style="color: #a64d79;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: large;">M</span><span style="background-color: white; font-size: large;">iss</span></span><span style="color: #a64d79;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: large;"> Babs Yarns co</span><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-size: large;">mpan</span><span style="font-size: large;">y</span></span></span></a></i></b></div>
<div>
<i></i><b></b><br /></div>
<div>
My very first project in collaboration with this amazing team was accessory, and for some reason I did not expect much from it, probably because I am more experienced in garments designs.<br />
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1TEdC0aKmoFm_lZJErTEIt1t57RyQioowtDdR54bkZGTxC7QL8NLlN8ek1qkFCC7KFKRJQA81xXAWKEq1bG2aJT3l5z1IsLMukcs32gwsAqlWSz4SZXj8lgpdLp89x4jrP1SjDrJeHLuK/s1600/mountainviewhat_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="433" data-original-width="505" height="342" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1TEdC0aKmoFm_lZJErTEIt1t57RyQioowtDdR54bkZGTxC7QL8NLlN8ek1qkFCC7KFKRJQA81xXAWKEq1bG2aJT3l5z1IsLMukcs32gwsAqlWSz4SZXj8lgpdLp89x4jrP1SjDrJeHLuK/s400/mountainviewhat_medium2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<b><span style="color: #b45f06;"><i>MOUNTAIN VIEW HAT</i></span></b></div>
<div>
in <span style="background-color: white; color: black; display: inline; float: none; font-family: "verdana" , "lucida sans unicode" , "lucida grande" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: 13.2px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;"><a href="https://www.missbabs.com/collections/kaweah">Kaweah DK</a>.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But it was truly a blessed way to turn my business gear towards accessory designs. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Developing this project also gave me the chance to begin the process of working with pattern testers on my own. And I am very pleased with the result.</div>
<br />
<div>
<i><u><span style="color: #e69138; font-size: large;">Thank you all: Miss Babs yarn providers, tech editors, photographer, model and pattern testers!</span></u></i></div>

<i></i><u></u><span style="color: #e69138;"></span><span style="font-size: large;"></span><br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Mean while I finished and published another design using generously supported by MBY makers, <a href="https://www.missbabs.com/collections/yowza">Yowza DK</a>.<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I designed<b><span style="color: #38761d;"> <i>GREEN APPLE PULLOVER</i></span></b>, and it was another new experience for me as a designer. I got brave And designed for variegated yarn. I was really nervous thinking that the colorway I chose might "eat up" the lace stitches. And result surprised me again.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
The yarn color pattern actually highlighted the waves of the stitch pattern, I used. Yarn is very easy to work with and unbelievably smooth to touch: it feels like finest cotton rather than wool, but with lovely "woolly" elasticity. Certainly, this sweater is going to be worn in spring time!</div>

As a knitwear designer I confess that relationship with yarn companies the base of success for every new pattern created.<br />
This year I discover the product of lovely friends from <a href="https://sweetpaprikadesigns.com/collections/hand-dyed-yarn">Sweet Paprika Designs</a>, Canadian hand-dyed yarn company run by two sisters, <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/people/sweetpaprika">Elizabeth</a> and <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/people/DeborahClare">Debbie</a> Sullivan.<br />
My first project with their product was a playful <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/orange-song-top">Orange Song Top</a>, light and airy Summer piece.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgblDAqFQYvDQ19cMNzLCSYQyIDLh-Ja2l0YegS0CKLXM7VNq63TSiqTvROteXKLpBdobhELwfqRh53XAlYoDlrdrH9O8ry4lVZRHxmm5chNqnQqLpcu6QachiOEPxkgO6XTBgTVSF21Tas/s1600/IMG_20190514_121618665-cropped-front-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1097" data-original-width="1057" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgblDAqFQYvDQ19cMNzLCSYQyIDLh-Ja2l0YegS0CKLXM7VNq63TSiqTvROteXKLpBdobhELwfqRh53XAlYoDlrdrH9O8ry4lVZRHxmm5chNqnQqLpcu6QachiOEPxkgO6XTBgTVSF21Tas/s320/IMG_20190514_121618665-cropped-front-1.jpg" width="308" /></a></div>
<br />
I was really surprise that the <a href="https://sweetpaprikadesigns.com/products/grazioso">Grazioso yarn</a> I had a pleasure to work with was so light and at the same time easy to work with, probably because it was just slightly heavier than Lace Weight yarn.<br />
And its yardage allows you to knit this top out of just 2 skein for the largest size given (60"/152.5 cm bust circumference). You also would be pleased to find out the fiber content of Grazioso: <strong style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; border-bottom-color: currentColor; border-bottom-style: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-image-outset: 0; border-image-repeat: stretch; border-image-slice: 100%; border-image-source: none; border-image-width: 1; border-left-color: currentColor; border-left-style: none; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-color: currentColor; border-right-style: none; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-color: currentColor; border-top-style: none; border-top-width: 0px; color: #494245; font-family: inherit; font-size-adjust: none; font-size: inherit; font-stretch: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant: inherit; font-weight: bold; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; orphans: 2; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;"> </strong><span style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; color: #494245; display: inline !important; float: none; font-family: inherit; font-size-adjust: none; font-size: inherit; font-stretch: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant: inherit; font-weight: inherit; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: inherit; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;">65% silk/35% linen, what could be better for summer wear!</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
My second design project with use of Sweet Paprika Designs was <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/cranberry-harvest-sweater">Cranberry Harvest sweater</a>, that was published in October issue of<a href="https://www.ilikeknitting.com/magazine/"> I Like Knitting </a>on-line magazine.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHnr8m21Chyzzn-DILvSTfeRM4X34iKO_mCRYpvSswm0gFshMtnaSnQ8XE1Hm13DdwjSOd94TeTPxdSclNf8ovfLqS7fcvs_i1ymZI_p18Ct-zAU-49ChJBUG0sSy9saUSxn3fhM7oj2ys/s1600/70296973_10162088462585562_5686380590727692288_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="639" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHnr8m21Chyzzn-DILvSTfeRM4X34iKO_mCRYpvSswm0gFshMtnaSnQ8XE1Hm13DdwjSOd94TeTPxdSclNf8ovfLqS7fcvs_i1ymZI_p18Ct-zAU-49ChJBUG0sSy9saUSxn3fhM7oj2ys/s320/70296973_10162088462585562_5686380590727692288_n.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
Summer is over and harvest season call for something warmer to wear. And this time I used lovely <a href="https://sweetpaprikadesigns.com/products/minuet">Minuet</a>, DK Weight 100% Superwash Merino wool yarn.<br />
The sweater turned out very lovely, it feel cozy and also makes a good layer.<br />
<br />

<br />
I am ready to introduce my new pattern, and especially the inspiration behind it.<br />
As soon as I saw the listed yarn and especially that color... my mind connected it with adorable children song from my past tender age. It was very popular in 60-s.<br />
Oh, did I just give you my age?! Sorry, that was an accident...<br />
Since this is a Russian song, I need to give you a rough translation of it.<br />
<br />
<i><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">The little girl is singing about her favorite color and that she is going to use it for a "whole world" that she tried to fit into refrain:</span></i><br />

<b><span style="color: orange;">Orange Foliage, </span></b><br />

Very philosophic song for being a children song, isn't it?<br />
Maybe if more people could see that orange color around themselves, they would become more loving and less hating. We can always hope!<br />
Here is a link to the song. The song itself is in it's original version, performed by little Georgian singer Irma Sokhadze, who later became professional musician.<br />
And the contemporary and IMHO very talented video by Darya Bor is a good "translated" illustration of the song. I do hope you will enjoy listening to it!<br />

<br />
There are some people I really would like to give my big THANKS to:<br />
<a href="https://www.sweetpaprikadesigns.com/">Sweet Paprika Designs</a><span style="color: black;"> who provided their beautiful <a href="https://www.sweetpaprikadesigns.com/products/grazioso">Grazioso</a> yarn, which is wonderful for Summer project, since it is silk and linen blend. Although this yarn is marked as Lace weight, it's as easy to work with as it would be in Fingering weight. And really great thing about using Grazioso for this Spring/Summer project is the yardage! For finished bust circumferences <span style="color: black; font-family: "quot"; font-size: 11pt; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 107%; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;">34.25

144.75, 154) cm<span style="font-size: x-small;"> </span></span>the numbers of skeins used are 1 (1, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2)! <span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: 11.0pt; line-height: 107%;"> </span></span><br />
<span style="color: black;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: 11.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><br /></span></span>
<a href="http://www.sue-cat.com/">Susan Hislop</a>, a hard working tech editor, who wonderfully helped me to coordinate all the numbers for this two directions top with rather uncommon construction details.<br />
<br />
So, please welcome: Orange Song Top<br />

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">In
8 years of designing I became brave enough to start my own line of designs
under “Nadya’s Designs”.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">I
have learned a lot from working with number of publishers, and since quite a few
ideas have been rotating in my head, I just could not ignore them.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">My
new line begins with Gem Hill, the mini collection of three garment designs, and the first
one is <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/orlets-pullover">Orlets Pullover:</a> over-sized cozy sweater design, generously supported by <a href="http://www.universalyarn.com/">UniversalYarns</a>, and edited by <span lang="EN"><a href="https://www.ravelry.com/people/knitdesigns">Tian Connaughton</a>, who patiently
held my writing hand through the process of recalculations and polishing off my
pattern.</span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN"><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">ORL<b>E</b>TS is the Russian
name for Rhodonite mineral. The meaning of this word is “belonging to eagle”.
People who live in Ural Mountains quite often find these pink stones in the
eagle nests. That is how this name was born.<o:p></o:p></span></span><br />

<span style="font-family: "bookman old style" , serif; font-size: 10.0pt;">In Spring of 2016 I
sent submission of my two designs to Ancient Arts Fibre Crafts. Both
of proposed patterns were accepted and one of them is now published: </span><span lang="EN" style="font-family: "bookman old style" , serif; font-size: 10.0pt;"><a href="http://ancientartsfibre.com/NEW/sarafan_vest.html">Sarafan Vest</a><b>. </b>I was not familiar
with AAFC yarn before, but loved it with the first few stitches that seemed to be
springing from needle to needle almost without my help. I first concerned about
colors chosen by company, because I know that it is not easy to achieve decent look
trying to </span><span style="font-family: "bookman old style" , serif; font-size: 10.0pt;">make Black and Brown friends. As soon as I worked
the swatch, I happily found out that it looks like antique jewelry: very showy! <a href="http://ancientartsfibre.com/iced_coffee_in_dk_weight.html">Iced Coffee</a> and <o:p></o:p></span><span style="font-family: "bookman old style" , serif; font-size: 10pt;"><a href="http://ancientartsfibre.com/fortuitous_in_dk_weight.html">Fortuitous</a> are great together!</span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "bookman old style" , serif; font-size: 10.0pt;">In general I tend to design garments with side seams for practical reason: they help
to keep the shape of the project. </span><span lang="EN" style="font-family: "bookman old style" , serif; font-size: 10.0pt;">Sarafan Vest is designed as a
one piece to knit to underarms, and </span><span style="font-family: "bookman old style" , serif; font-size: 10.0pt;"><a href="http://ancientartsfibre.com/DK_Weight_Yarn/">Ancient Arts Fibre Crafts 100% Superwash Merino DK</a> holds its shape very well.</span><span style="font-family: "bookman old style" , serif; font-size: 10.0pt;"> <span lang="EN">In addition, Mosaic borders also give good support to whole construction of this long sleeveless coat. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "bookman old style" , serif; font-size: 10.0pt;">And
of course, the garment itself is so </span><span lang="EN" style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: 10.0pt;">versatile and allowing
to be combined with many pieces of your favorite wardrobe basics. Also available on <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sarafan-vest">Ravelry</a></span><span style="font-family: "bookman old style" , serif; font-size: 10.0pt;"><o:p></o:p></span></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN" style="font-family: "bookman old style" , serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Sometimes the patterns give instruction
for two or more simultaneously running shapings. Normally that are front
armhole and neckline shapings. Although shapings are knit simultaneously, the
knitters need to keep track of those shaping separately. If my pattern contains
this kind of instruction, I do include row counters into notions section. Since
my own counters are the same, I hooked each of them on different color thread
or ribbon; and it is always a good idea to make a note which marker is used for
each shaping.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;">

<span lang="EN" style="font-family: "bookman old style" , serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">If there is no row counters
among knitter’s supplies, simple piece of paper can help. Just divide the page
in the sections, mark the names of the shapings, and then keep marks for each
shaping on the paper until each shaping is accomplished. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

instruction: “At the same time…” It means that the row counting begins with <b>the same row</b> for <b>each shapings</b> given.</span><span style="font-family: "bookman old style" , serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><o:p></o:p></span></div>

I am happy to be one of designers, who worked on this collection. My design is comfy and cozy <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/hidden-light-cardigan" target="_blank">Hidden Light Cardigan</a> with double shawl collar and chest pocket. I worked the pocket keeping in mind my husband who cannot function without chest pocket on his clothes. I am very pleased with great photography by Knit Picks. Here are few of my favorite shots:<br />

sounds, I love that this name reminds me the name of my beloved granddaughter

I began browsing for definition of the word. I was surprised to find out that
Michelada is the name of Mexican drink. Here it is:<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">

<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"><span lang="EN" style="font-family: "Bookman Old Style",serif; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 107%; mso-ansi-language: EN;">The word <span style="mso-bidi-font-style: italic;">chela</span> is a popular
term for a beer in Mexico. When you ask for a <span style="mso-bidi-font-style: italic;">chela</span>, you are asking for a cold beer; therefore, the phrase <span style="mso-bidi-font-style: italic;">mi chela helada</span> means "my cold

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #783f04;">Troy is inspired by the traditional Russian sleeveless dress, which was meant to be worn over an embroidered blouse. As a layer it is very popular and practical, because it adds warmth and with different tops underneath gives a variety of outfits, and that is why it is a favorite garment of mine, too. This dress is designed as a layer with a combination of 3 different textural stitch patterns and some interesting construction details, such as slash pockets with inserts and a short row shaped neck line. As a teacher working with children for about 30 years I know how comfortable and practical this style of dress is, not only for teachers, but also for many other busy ladies.</span></div>
